EXPRESS ENTRY



Express entry is a stream that allows permanent residence application in Canada depending on your profession. This applies to all provinces of Canada, with the exception of Quebec. The Express Entry program was implemented on 1 January 2015 in order to improve the selection of immigrants to Canada. It offers a better fit between the needs of the Canadian labor market and immigrants' selection. There is no cap for Express Entry.



But how does this system work ?

Each individual wishing to obtain permanent residence must create a profile in the Express Entry system.One can register for express entry via 3 different federal economic immigration programs:

  • Federal Skilled Workers

  • Federal Skilled Trades Program

  • The Canadian experience.

A portion of the Provincial Nominations Program (PNP) is also allowed to apply under Express Entry.

A questionnaire at registration for express entry tells you which program is best suited to your profile and you can then start your application. Depending on your professional experience in Canada and / or abroad, age, language skills, qualifications, a number of points assigned to you. Only those with a job categorie under NOC 0, A or C may register. Apprenticeships and internships give points. It takes at least 1 year of professional experience in the profession that you declare to be able to get points.

Each month, the federal government of Canada extracts the highest-ranking profiles from all the profiles registered in the express entry system ( the pool).Indeed, a maximum total of 1200points, divided into 2 groups, may be granted:

  • 600 points obtained if you have a job offer from a Canadian employer and a LMIA. According to cic.gc.ca, :”There will be no LMIA fee for permanent resident applications. “.

Or

* 600 points awarded if you are selected by a province (PNP).

And

  • 600 maximum points achieved on your own profile and that of your spouse (e) if you have one.



Of the 1 200 points available under the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS), a maximum of 500 points can be allocated based on the basic factors of human capital. In case the applicant is accompanied by a spouse or partner, up to 460 points can be allocated for human capital of the main candidate and 40 points for the human capital of their spouse or partner. The points for the basic factors of human capital for candidates who are not accompanied by a spouse or common-law partner are as follows:

Age

A maximum of 110 points can be allocated to the candidate's age. Applicants aged 20-29 are the ones who get the most points for this factor. Applicants younger than 18 or older than 44 years do not get point.



Level of Education

A maximum of 150 points can be awarded for tuition.



First Official Language

A maximum of 136 points can be awarded for language skills in English or French. 34 points are awarded respectively for speaking, writing, reading comprehension and listening comprehension.



Second official language

A maximum of 24 points is allotted for language skills in English or French. 6 points are awarded respectively for speaking, writing, reading comprehension and listening comprehension.



Work experience in Canada

A maximum of 80 points can be allocated according to the number of years that the candidate has held a qualified position in Canada.

Before applying, you must:

  • obtain a formal equivalency for your studies, by an organization accredited by the Canadian federal government. WES, for example.

This is not required if:

o you have recently acquired at least one year work experience in Canada;

o you have work experience in a skilled trade (specialized manual labor).

  • pass the language test TEF Canada for French and / or IELTS or CELPIP for English. . No obligation to choose between the English or French as their first official language.

Once these steps completed, you can register.

You must register on the job bank to finalize your registration. You must provide your confirmation number to evaluate your qualifications and or the test certificate number (s) of language.Then you will be given a certain number of points. A profile is valid for 1 year.

If you are selected, you are notified by email in the night from Friday to Saturday. The extractions are ususally held on Fridays.

Express Entry applications are processed in 6 months.

If you are selected, you will need these documents:

  • The copy of your diplomas (Immigration already know your evaluation report with the certificate number that you must also provide and it has direct access).

  • Copy of your passport.

  • Photos.

  • Proof of funds (your entire financial situation with all your last 6 months statements).

  • criminal record.

  • Proof of previous employers from the NOC category that you have declared and payslips.

  • medical examination with a doctor approved by CIC.

  • The cost of the application is a non-refundable $ 550 fee and $ 490 for the right to PR, refundable if your application is refused.

Furthermore, for your application to be admissible must be able to demonstrate a certain amount of funds available at the time of application (real estate, stocks etc. are not admissible). The money must be available (current account, booklets, ...). This amount can not be from a loan of any kind. A gift certificate is allowed with the donor. This is why immigration requires records the last 6 months to quickly identify any suspects large amounts that arrive on one accounts .



The Express Entry program has not change immigration program requirements; it's a managemnt system for economic immigration and also a tool to help screening and selectiong only the highest profiles. Moreover, it is a powerful pool for employers. And last, but not least, since Express Entry is an immigration stream, it will dimunish temporary foreign workers and bring “ better “ landed immigrants.
